Tom Smart, the uncle of Elizabeth talked with the Reuters while telling the details of wedding that she tied the knot at a Mormon temple overlooking the Pacific on the island of Oahu. About 10-years ago, it was 2002 when Elizabeth Smart was just 14-years old made the headline worldwide when she was kidnapped by preacher and kidnapper Brian David Mitchell in Salt Lake City.
Meanwhile, Chris Thomas, the family spokesman said in a statement, “Elizabeth’s desire was for what most women want — to celebrate her nuptials in a private wedding with family and close friends. She decided, about a week ago, the best way to avoid significant distraction was to change her wedding plans and to get married in an unscheduled ceremony outside of Utah.”

David Brian Mitchell, the man who kidnapped and held now 23-years old Elizabeth Smart captive for nine months in 2002, has been sentenced to life in prison. He received two life sentences for the crime.
