Leslie Carter Cause Of Death Unknown

Leslie Carter, sister of the Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter and Aaron Carter died Tuesday in upstate New York of unknown causes. Her death remains unknown, pending a medical examiner’s findings.

“Our family is grieving right now and it’s a private matter,” the Carter family said in a statement. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved sister, daughter, and granddaughter, Leslie Carter. We request the utmost privacy during this difficult time.”

Leslie resided in Canada, which is about an hour and a half away from Chautauqua County, New York, where her dad lived. TMZ has recently broke the news about her death that Leslie Carter was battling an addiction to prescription medication in the days before her death.

Aaron Carter wrote on the Facebook of his late sister, “Hey this is aaron we are going to keep her facebook up..! i will add ppl so we keep leslie alive! we love les.”  Coroner Richard Mackowiak told E! News, “An autopsy yesterday morning by the Chautauqua County coroner’s office found “no visible signs of trauma. We are awaiting a toxicology report to determine a cause of death.”

The cause of death is deferred until the autopsy results come in. “Nick Carter is thankful to the many people and the fans who have shared their wishes and prayers during this tragic time,” his publicist, Jack Ketsoyan, told E! News.

Carter started a small club tour in Canada in December 2005, and had a showcase in NYC on January 19, 2006, with hopes it would lead to a new record deal. Leslie most recently performed with the four-piece rock band The Other Half, but the group split in 2009.

Leslie Carter leaves behind husband Mike Ashton and their 10-month-old daughter Alyssa Jane.
